**Title: “Create Account Transaction” action silently not executing — no error, no log entry, correct config (v5.7.28)**

Hi all,

I’m trying to build per-waiter tip tracking on top of a working general gratuity flow, and I’ve hit a wall with an action that silently does nothing — no error, nothing in the log even with log4net forced on.

**Setup:**

- Custom Entity Type “Waiter” (e.g. entity “Corrie”), correctly attached to tickets via a working “Select Waiter” button
- Custom Account Type “Waiter Tips,” with Corrie’s individual account correctly linked to her entity
- Account Transaction Type “Waiter Tip Transaction”: Source Account Type = Sales Accounts, Target Account Type = Waiter Tips, Default Source Account = Tips Account, Default Target Account = Corrie
- Action “ACT - Tip to Corrie”: Type = Create Account Transaction, Account Transaction Type Name = Waiter Tip Transaction, Amount = `[:OverpayAmount]`
- Action is added into an existing, working rule (RULE - Apply Gratuity Choice, triggered on Automation Command Executed / Gratuity), positioned right after the existing gratuity actions, with no custom constraint (tested fully unconditional)

**Symptom:**

- The ticket’s own general Tip Transaction (unrelated, pre-existing, working) posts correctly every time
- “ACT - Tip to Corrie” never appears at all in the resulting Account Transaction Document — not even as a failed/zero-value line
- Corrie’s account balance stays at a flat dash (no debit, no credit) after every test
- Verified: action config correct, transaction type config correct, entity-account link correct, rule contains the action (confirmed via Select Actions dialog and fresh reopen after restart)
- Enabled log4net (was set to threshold=“OFF” by default) and ran a fresh test — no log file was ever generated despite the config change, and no entries for this action anywhere

**Question:** Is there a known limitation with “Create Account Transaction” actions and custom entity-linked accounts in an unregistered trial license? Or is there a known issue in 5.7.28 with this action type silently failing? Any pointers on where else to look (e.g. a different log location, a known gotcha with Source/Target Account Type combinations) would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Can you post screen shots of your Actions and Rules?

I was really debating with myself whether I should bother responding to a clearly AI written post which has clearly just been copy and pasted here (hint - the bold “title” was supposed to be the subject…), but anyway…

You are passing `[:OverpayAmount]` to the “ACT - Tip to Corrie”, i.e. you are essentially passing nothing to it. You actually need to pass a value or tag there.

Maybe you can ask your AI to learn more about SambaPOS first before it generates false messages to post on the forum due to it’s inability to actually **understand** what it is supposed to help you with, or use a better model that actually has the capability to search the forum and knowledge base so it won’t make such silly mistakes like this?

Good day Mark,

Thank you for responding and yes, you are correct that this was AI generated. I grew up in an era without electronics and have not had much opportunity to learn which is what I am trying now with the help of AI instead of wasting everyones time here on the forum. This is also my very first time asking for help on any digital platform.

I do however want to thank you for responding as my tips are now correctly allocated to Corrie’s account and I have even been able to add a second waiter tip account successfuly.

Once again, thank you for the assistance, I appreciate the help.

I’m happy to know you got it working now.

Sorry if I came across the wrong way, it wasn’t specifically directed at you but it’s just frustrating when your AI actually made a mistake and actually then wrote a lengthy question it asked you to post on the forum, but the mistake it made was very simple and just proves it doesn’t have a solid knowledge of SambaPOS. Especially how it mentioned using log4net - something nobody building with SambaPOS would even need to use - it’s wasting time trying to debug SambaPOS and work out “bugs” that don’t even exist, then report those “bugs” here. That’s my reason for saying why I was quite hesitant to even reply originally because your AI is wasting people’s time (not you personally).

I have personally used ChatGPT to help with some very complex SambaPOS functionality and it can be pretty decent in it’s response, but I also feel without my own underlying experience with SambaPOS, I would still run into problems because it has invented tags or features that didn’t exist. I was able to spot that and correct it, but someone who hasn’t used SambaPOS before wouldn’t catch that.

If you’re planning to use SambaPOS in your business, I’d really recommend you spend some time learning the basics - trying some of the great [tutorials](https://forum.sambapos.com/c/v5-tutorial/22) on the forum here can really build up your knowledge. Definitely SambaPOS is not the easiest platform to start with, but once you understand how things work together it can be very rewarding and empowering on what you can actually achieve with it, and having even that basic level of knowledge can also help you if you’re using AI to assist, you can have a better idea how to debug issues when something doesn’t work right (and you **don’t** need to use any coding tools like log4net!) 🙂
