when I add an order to a customer account, for some reason the order is added to all accounts, so when I check the balance, it is the same for all accounts.
any ideas?

Sounds very odd.
Can you show screen of accounts showing these accounts?
Look at the Entity Settings for those Entities to confirm they are not using the same Account.
