Implementation on LAN environment

Can SambaPOS be implemented on a LAN network, if yes can someone kindly guide me on this?

SambaPOS works with SQL so just install SQL Express on one of the machines or a separate ‘server’ and point each terminal to the same DB on the server.
Just search the forum for SQL Express, many tutorials and info.

THERE IS STILL TWO AND THREE

Your using SambaPOS in Text demo mode. Text mode is for demo purposes and will not support multi terminals nor will it work for a live environment.

I am going to give you a few links to follow give me one second…

Kendash,
Can I undo the action and get the application back without loosing my settings and data?

No because you configured it in text mode which was meant for demo purposes. You will need to rebuild it from scratch once you get it installed and working with a database. Any settings or configuration done while in TX (Demo Mode) can not be saved or converted to a real live non test database.

how long have you been using SambaPOS V4? It shouldn’t allow you to do a lot of configuration in TXT mode.

Kendash,
I would like to install and configure a live mode of the software, how do I get this setup

Follow the tutorials we gave you it explains how to setup a Database and how to connect to it.

So does it mean that i just install the same setup I have?

I havnt ran the v4 installer in a long time V5 doesnt even have text mode option anymore. You should be able to install SQL Express following the tutorials we gave you and then direct your connection string to that database and it should work.

Have you read the tutorials linked yet? Did you try the steps in the tutorial?

Based on the error you posted you either did not setup the database or your connection string is wrong and its still in TX mode.

how do i go about v5, installation and payment for the license.

I am also experiencing same challenge. I am not able to open the application and I cant locate the setting.txt file, kindly help.
This is the log I get:

I have installed sql and it is running ok, I have also installed sambapos 4 and sql compact tool 4. When I start sambapos I get an error that datasource not found.
then again from the sql compact tool I cant see wgen I browse any sdb file

And is there away to change the data source string before the application opens

The settings.txt file - its either in the samba folder in user documents or the programs folder, can never remember which.
