I have been asked to see if we could add a tab for certain customers. so if a customer come in frequently they would rather ask to put it on a tab instead of paying there and then. so they will get a total bill at the end of the week.
They also want tabs so something special is happen then they want customers to put money on a tab which will deduct while the party goes on.
Just use customer accounts for this, its already built in just add your customers then from the pos screen select customer, press edit, press the button to activate their account, add them to the ticket and on settle screen the account payment option will be available
This adds money into their account to be paid at a later date by going into the customer account and adding a payment
I also created a tab system without usings account for customer who werent regulars and that i didnt want setup in accounts, but these tabs must be paid the same day before closing work period so its designed for a quick way to give a tab when you dont need to setup an account as the cusromer isnt a regular

I had been asked to remove that preset feature before hand, however I did advise them it was need and that it maybe needed for a later feature. so now they need it back and I am unsure of how to set that up
You need to recreate the customer entity if you deleted it and create any custom fields you need, name etc
Once created tou need to add the entity to the ticket type you use and this will display the customer search button on the pos screen
