A Pole Display is defined as a Printer in SambaPOS and is generally a serial or USB device.
That said, you can also use something like a USB Display which gives you much more flexibility and area to display things such as Advertisements. It will still be defined as a Printer, but it “prints to file” and uses a (local) web service (i.e. IIS) to host HTML content.
