Rasberry Pi 3 Integration

Hi everyone! I’m wondering is it possible to run sambaPOS on rasberry pi 3? We already have one windows running computer in the restaurant, but we need to kitchen display screen in the kitchen. And we don’t want to buy second windows running pc to execute ‘kitchen display’.

Thank you!

Samba itself is a Windows program so no, however check out the GraphQL API currently in dev.
Believe there has been a basic web based kitchen display put together using this.
Alternatively get a usff Windows PC, I use these for my tills and pick them up on eBay for as little as £40-50 for a core duo machine, last time I looks that wasn’t much different to a pi.

Thanks for your reply! However, windows 10 (iot edition) is now available for rasberry pi 2&3 and also microsoft sql server running on windows 10 for iot.

Windows 10 IoT edition is far from a full Windows OS. It is an embedded version of Windows 10 and as far as I know, it doesn’t even have a Windows shell, it is purely for developing and running specific IoT type applications.

So, SambaPOS would not be compatible with this version of Windows 10.

Your only option for Raspberry Pi would be to access SambaPOS running on a Windows PC via RDP, or as @JTRTech mentioned, do something with GraphQL API (which would allow you to run the connected GraphQL app in a browser on the Raspberry Pi).

A fully functional kitchen display that runs in a browser via GraphQL has been built and demonstrated and even shared in the forum already. I recommend looking at this solution.
