RFID to log onto sambapos5

I have bought a cheap M302 rfid reader writer off ebay for £14 with 10 fobs. I have used the setup program that came with it to program the cards individual numbers but when i go to the sambapos logon screen and present the tag to the reader nothing happens. I have searched the forum and read all posts regarding rfid but cannot find a answer.

thanks for any help you can give

The login screen can detect keyboard input. The reader simply needs to output like a keyboard. Open up notepad and swipe a card does it output the numbers?

I use RFID on all the terminals I sell.
Have never had to write to a fob as always buy bags of 100 precoded ones with serial number.
Kendash is right if having problems first thing is to check output into basic app like notepad.
The reader I bought were detected automatically by windows as input devices.

I would say most likely either the reader is not setup in windows properly.
Does seam cheap for a reader & writer.

not working in notepad

It’s either not working or not setup right. Check your drivers if any.

Check in device manager to see if its installed correctly.
Most likely not installed properly by sounds of it.
Is it USB?

shows in device manager seems to be installed ok I have reinstalled still the same

Have any other RFID type devices?

When you said you wrote numbers to the fobs are you sure that happened?

If reader was installed correctly next suggestions would be reader faulty or blank fobs.
In about 40 RFID readers I’ve bought/installed I have had a couple info issues, one was faulty reader and one was faulty USB cable.

I usually buy them seperate, reader for just under £5 each and bag of 100 blue fobs for about £25, all off eBay.

They plug in USB and auto install, once installed work straight away… Although you have different reader/writer and fobs.

Thanks JTRTech

could you please post a link to the ones you used i will order again.

It seems the M302 does not work as a USB Keyboard just with the supplyed software which seems a little pointless.

Ordered Thanks for the help.

but the length of the pin to login is limited to 8 characters right? i once input more than 12 characters and sambapos doesn’t allow me to login the only admin ID I have where I went thru a big mess that I needed to get SQL installed and amended the problem in the database.

if length of pin can be unlimited length, it would be more secure and RFID would change the way we set the way our staff access it.

RFIDs usually work with a 10 didget serial number which works for user pins, I have never had any issues.
