Taking Name on Ticket with Prompt

Hello,

I am curious if there is a way to do a prompt to ask the name of the customer before closing the ticket out. I would then want that value saved to the {ENTITY:Customers} for that ticket. I want to be able to display that on my bar display which uses the task printer to do a bar display.

Thank you.

why not just press Change Customer Button on top right corner?

We are a coffee shop and we do have some registered customers but many walk ins are not and we take their name and put it on each ticket

Change Customer doesn’t mean every ticket need to have customer name.
It can be change or assign if doesn’t have one.

Thanks, mine doesn’t have the option! I have renamed customers to members, when I click select member it actually sends me to the “Customer Search” entity screen, unless I go through the menu to make a new member it does not allow me to select one easily

Oh, yeah. It the same button, when no customer it said select customer.
What difficult to use Customer Search???
Just type name or phone if there is already have one just select it.
If not just click new customer. so dead simple.

Sukasem - sorry I am diffcult, the thing is, we have a VIP Loyalty program and it credits back points to “Members” so I want a way to take names for non members where they won’t get credit… a popup with a new entity might be ideal then print that entity out to my POS screens …

So, do you want to take non-member/walkin customer name into database? If not necessary, I think you just need ticket tag which is much simple to create.

Yep, I think a ticket tag is what we need- you are right. So I need a prompt to add a ticket tag! I will try it

If you just want a very easy setup, use the prebuilt change ticket note actions/rules/automation commands. Then you can just use {NOTE} in printer templates/formatting to see the name

Thank you both! What I ended up doing was a free ticket tag named “Customer Name” and then that added a button to the checkout – it gets tagged on. On my KDS I added {TICKET TAG: Customer Name} and it works perfectly! You all were so helpful!
