First I would like to congratulate you on a great product. I have only taken a quick look so far and I really like what I see.
However there is one aspect of the program that I would prefer to avoid. That is forcing a logoff and PIN entry when changing users. Can the user by automatically switched via a button for each user. What I am thinking of is having a Switch User screen with predefined buttons for each user. Each button would have an action that automatically logs in that user, .
I’m looking at using SambaPOS in my wife’s Bistro and their current ePOS system allows them to quickly switch users at a touch of a button.
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice given
You can change from users to entities for your employees. This is what I have done with my system and it works much better. I use Entity type Employees and I define various things like Pay Rate, Pin etc as Custom Fields.
I use only two user Roles with just 2 users. Admin for obvious reasons, administrative stuff. And Employee which is what it stays logged in as most of the time.
The way you do this is you automate the assigning of Entities to the Tickets. For example you can automate a process that uses an Entity Screen to assign Employee to ticket… Employee clicks on their name it will asign them to ticket then they check out customer. Or you can automate it so when ticket is created it prompts for them to enter their pin which then assigns it to ticket… You can make it so they only have to enter pin once and every concurrent ticket will add their entity until they exit POS.
There are many many ways to automate this and use Entities instead of Users. I realize it may not be easy however. I have built a tutorial for this when v5 releases but I have no plans for doing one for v4 atm. V5 will be released soon here is a quick video showing an example of how my system flows in v5.
Obviously with v5 it can be customized for a very nice flow. You can still customize v4 to use most of the functionality the major difference between v4 and v5 is the navigation screen as you can see in v5 it adds way more customization.
You will notice when the correct pin was entered it added the Employee to the Ticket at top. My employees simply swipe a badge they do not actually have to enter a pin. So the flow is Employee presses POS button they swipe badge it loads POS with their name assigned to ticket. They ring up as many customers as they want then when done they can go back to main screen without logging out. Or the system will auto take it to navigation after 3 min of no activity. Next employee presses POS then swipes their badge… and so on so forth… Very quick and efficient.
