END of version 4

End of version 4 and version 5 later versions

Have you noticed that you can no longer download sambapos version 4 and other version of 5 expect the latest version.

It now occurring to me that sambapos is fully going commercial and community involvement will be a thing of past.

The question is what will happen to the forum and all the greatest team players :disappointed_relieved::disappointed_relieved::disappointed_relieved:

Yeah I agree. I appreciate they likely removed V4 because they want to move forward with V5. I believe V4 was always an interim solution to gather interest to them move to a commercial model with V5. But I also appreciate a lot of people still use V4 successfully and if they have some problem with their system and need to reinstall, there is nowhere official to download now. Quite a few people also likely purchased modules for V4 and it isn’t really fair on them to be forced to upgrade to V5 (if they needed to reinstall) if they are perfectly happy with what they have.

What annoys me, and I am sure many other regulars on the forum, is the current scenario and overall handling of it from SambaPOS, especially lack of communication. I truly believe SambaPOS is where it is today not only because of SambaPOS company, but (if not more so) because of the community that have backed this, using in their business, providing feedback and awesome solutions om the forum making the software what it is today. SambaPOS without the community and forum would be very basic and not competitive in today’s marketplace. Emre has said himself a few times of his amazement of the solutions people have came up with for his software. Turning their back on this community is a route to disaster. Many people have spent countless hours helping and providing excellent solutions for free on this community forum, now which appears to be long forgotten by SambaPOS company.

I would make a guess that many of the decisions being made today by SambaPOS are partly fueled by the investors in the company, who likely know nothing or have no interest in the forum, seeing it as a petty thing in comparison to getting a return on their investment by following a more traditional business model. It is really SambaPOS company’s position to educate their investors to let them understand what matters here. I know Emre always respected the community here, unfortunately for whatever reason he has chosen to desert us, or has been silenced somehow, as I do not believe someone who cares about their product can just disappear, no matter what has been said here.

I try to move forward looking at the positives, but so far nothing really good has came of SambaPOS in the last few months and I feel the community is not the same as it used to be.

True to that Markjw, its good to hear from you. At-least you are the voice of hope and reason during this turbulent times. We aren’t assured of what tomorrow holds ,whatever happened to emre,we thank him for his amazing work, maybe someday he will come back to this forum until then lets hope all will be well.
