I’m not sure if anyone else is using BackBar? It’s a free service (with Pro option) I came across that has a lot of out of the box features. They have an API now and it looks as though it should be possible to integrate into Samba.
I know there hasn’t been a lot of focus on inventory as of late so could be a viable option until that focus changes.
