Issues Upgrading to 4.1.82 from 4.1.65

Hi! I’m currently running SambaPos on an SQL server 2014. However, when i want to upgrade to v .85 from v .65 i get an error:

Check database version

Can you please tell me how can i upgrade the database :)?

re install 4.185 again

reinstalling doesn’t help :frowning:

Strange looking screenshot. Shutdown sambapos and reinstall 4.1.82 it should work. Is the database on the same computer?

lol that’s because i tried cropping it first but then didn’t.

Should i first upgrade to 4.1.82 and then to 4.1.85? I’ve tried after uninstalling and upgrading directly to 4.1.85 and it doesn’t work. Do i have to make some amendments to the SQL database as well when upgrading?

Yes - it’s on the same computer.

there is no 4.1.85 .82 is newest version. No samba upgrades it on first run. Something else is wrong.

Oh … i get it. Maybe, another terminal is already connected to the database when i try and upgrade the master terminal. I’ll try updating i, at the outlet, when all the other terminals are switched off! I hope that works.

Yes you can’t update if the SQL Express Instance is in use.

So for anyone else reading this if you have multiple terminals hooked to the database you have to exit SambaPOS on all terminals before you update the main server hosting the Database. Then you can upgrade the other remaining terminals.

Okay - i exited SambaPos on all terminals, uninstalled it on the main terminal but when i tried installing it on the main terminal still got the same error. Any idea what else could be causing it?

Right-click the setup file and choose Run as Administrator.

Also, when you run the App for the first time after install, you should right-click and Run as Administrator.

Thank you! Finally i’ve been able to upgrade. Had been holding onto this upgrade for the last 3-4 months. Could’ve just asked a question here and gotten done with it much sooner!
