I have further investigate this issue and then I found that I can use RDP to access “POS” on terminal server, staff1, staff2 but not on terminal staff3, staff4.
Is there any limit on the number of terminals that it can support on SambaPOS 5?
Nope. you can RDP as many times as long as your windows supports it. E.G Windows server can take many rdp sessions. Windows 7 pro can take a few but not more, and windows home must be patched but can take 1-2 RDP sessions.
In fact, all 5 terminal ‘server’ ‘staff1’ ‘staff2’ ‘staff3’ ‘staff4’ can be login and access the windows 7 machine via RDP. Even SambaPOS can be run all 5 RDP terminal, however staff3, staff4 can not run/access POS module.
All versions of Windows only allows one connection to RDP. You must use a hack to allow more than one. The alternative is to buy Windows server and licenses for RDP for each terminal.
If you use the hack then you can no longer get security updates from Microsoft which could be detrimental to your system and not recommended.
Sambapos supports unlimited terminals per database.
It looks a quite weird that it is a windows problem/issue. Since we don’t encounter the license and working fine with 4 or 5 RDP session with SambaPOS v4. So I think it is relate with the license control form SambaPOS v5. I will get a testing machine on Windows Server and try to run SambaPOS v5 again and clarify that the issue is raised from Windows or SambaPOS v5.
Can somebody help on the SambaPOS v5 “no valid license found” issue on RDP cleint? I able to clarify that that the issue is related to SambaPOS v5 (and not relate to the OS for the machine). We have do the following testing and findings:
Windows 7 and SambaPOS V4 - Main PC and 4 RDP clients working fine and no issue.
Windows 7 and SambaPOS V5 - Main PC and 2 RDP clients working fine and 2 RDP client show “no valid license found” when access “POS”.
Windows 2008R2 Standard and SambaPOS V4 - Main PC and 4 RDP clients working fine and no issue.
Windows 2008R2 Standard and SambaPOS V5 - Main PC and 2 RDP clients working fine and 2 RDP client show “no valid license found” when access “POS”.
Titan_Hon I didn’t say you need to purchase the license. You need to install license module for each windows account as modules installed under users documents folder.
