List of software to install

Dear all,
I have just been introduced to sambapos, I have not done anything on it before but I have installed, configured other POS/ retail Software before. I have taken a good look at sambapos and I will like to deploy it in a restaurant project to be opened in May 2021.
I plan to use a dedicated PC as server and will start with 3 POS terminal (clients).
Kindly clarify the following in clear terms.

  1. What are the list of software to install on the server?
  2. What are the list of software to install on Clients?
  3. Can I get a downloadable tutorial document / video to for my installation, configuration, customisation and user training?

Thanks as I await your prompt response.

Thanks
Mayor

  1. SQL Server 2017 Express Version
  2. Just Install Samba on Clients and Connect with Main Server.
  3. https://kb.sambapos.com/ Everything is here.

There are some great step by step tutorials on forum for installing sql if it’s new to you.

Thank you very much for your prompt response It will help alot. Please I will also like to know if I will get assistance in creating new reports / customisation if I desire a report that is not available on SambaPos. Also, I will like to know if there is a link to a platform where u can get the list of reports available in SambaPO v5. ( Or vis-a-vis SambaPos v4).

Thanks
Mayowa

Good evening,
Please I need advice on the below:

  1. How and where can I find the default list of available reports in version 5?
  2. Do I need to be an IT professional to be able to deploy Samba v5 by myself? Create reports, create menu items, prices, users etc
I will appreciate a prompt response to the above queries
  1. go to Manage and then Reports
  2. No you do not but it will require you to learn it. We also have many resellers that would be able to assist you if you require their service.

Thank you for your response. Please can you connect me with a reseller in Abuja (FCT), Nigeria
Which part of IT do I really need to learn?

This is a big list, not sure if your expecting someone to go through every point.

Samba is very versatile but is not an install and go system and everything is preconfigured.
The sample database installed if selected is very basic cafΓ© pos.
Reports are simple generic defaults.
Most of your list is posible, much through normal functionality or with minor customization.

The thing to note is that with its flexibility the chances of two systems setup by un related people are likely to differ posibly quite drastically behind the scenes.

A simple example you could look at is refund, which isn’t a default button, could be setup in multiple ways.
I prefer a x-1 qty method which adds stock if used and gives negative value.
Others opt for reverse accounting via a seperate ticket type, some have gone as far as extencive automation from with options as to ask wether to return to stock, just reverse transaction financially or mark as waste on stock.

The other trade off that comes from the flexibility of the system is that there isn’t a one true manual, most documentation is in form of examples and tutorials from experienced users on the forum.
