First of all let me Apologize if i have put this in the Wrong Forum Section, Wasn’t sure where to put it as it is not a Complete usable Database for Everyone…
Hi all this is mainly for leaders and moderators this is my complete Database, ( be sure to backup your own database as this will overwrite everything ), i have removed all Customers and Customer accounts as they contain personal info and created 1 Customer and Credit Account Customer Same Person ( Joe Bloggs ). I have left all products, table layout and a few Traders e.t.c, Admin login is 0000 and Mark Login is 1111 to Open Drawer on Login Screen is 5555. I am Posting this in the chance that someone can help me i have various actions and rules in the system and i am hoping someone can point me in the right direction how to clear dead Rules and Command Buttons, actions are ok i think as you can delete them as they are not being used by rules ( I THINK ), anyways any help or advice would be appreciative and Thankyou to all the Guys who have made this possible through assistance and volunteering information i would not have got this far so thanks to Emre, Kendash, JTRTech, Pauln QMcKay e,t,c Keep it Going
P.S. Some Details will not Available ( Pictures, FIles e.t.c like Printer Templates for Example ) as they are on my Own Server or Bellas POS, Adapt to your Liking to Get an Understanding
Your the only one who can truly tell if a rule is dead…
Automation command rules maybe yes, if there is nothing to trigger it maybe we can deduce that but what are you expecting to be done, work through every one of your rules etc to work out which ones are not needed.
Not needed is a perspective term
I have several rules which are probably unnecessary and would most likely be considered redundant by others but they are for my reference and some are with future reporting aim like adding a state which is not used by any automation etc…
I edited the direct link to your database out of your post. We shouldn’t share databases unless one of us requests it in a private message. It’s best if you provide examples and screenshot to give us an idea of what you need help with.
Sharing database since v5 can cause license issues for other users it also could contain information you wouldn’t want the public to access.
I appreciate what you are saying Kendash and the fact that you edited out my link but there are certain ways to explain and a simple ‘Sorry i had to Remove…’ would be Plausible enough for someone to accept - Some people do not know what they are doing in most cases and even some cases like myself so to give someone a a little respect in what they are trying to achieve is not a bad thing at all. After all when your a person like me you pay $99 for a software and you have to set it all up yourself it is not much at all compared to other POS Systems but helping, Guiding and speaking to someone a certain way IS. Like i said in my first post we all appreciate what you guys do but most of us even after 18 months still find it hard to understand The Terminology and What they Mean. So please a Little respect for the person who is still trying to Learn a thing or 2. Thank You
I think you misunderstand kendash, he is mearly trying to protect you and your data and also as he said sharing databases in V5 is not encouraged as can cause licence issues.
As for your request, if the rules are redundant they arent going to effect system, if they are not being triggered at all they most likely will just go unused.
My recommendation if you have got to the point of a ‘messy’ setup from where you have been learning would be maybe recreate the setup using what you have learnt to make a new improved and streamlined setup.
When I was working on my PMS setup for the hotel I started from scratch at least 2 or 3 times.
I understand that JTRTech but the way people speak on here sometimes really gets on my nerves, i understand they have a Business as well like yourself but the way words are spoken on here means a lot to a person who is after help and support. Most people on here when they comment for help often say Please, Thank You and Sorry but i think a Adequate response is enough. I know Kendash yourself e.t.c don’t have to help and their help is very appreciative but not all of us asking for help and support are not ignorant people. I also see some people requesting help and not a Please or a Thank You from them then by all means respond in the way fitting to the Question but it feels sometimes when a response comes for example in my past questions it can feel some what Demeaning which is not right. Despite the fact i appreciate Kendash’s response i do think wording is Important… I am sorry if you or Kendash doesn’t like my response but that’s My Opinion and yes i think My Opinion counts for all the people who are struggling to understand the Terminology of the Software and in a some cases Paid Software …
@markwalker848 there is nothing unrespectful in Kendash’s response. He could just ignore that but acted quick to prevent a possible license issue. Well other than that some people does not like the way we support people so they want to contact us privately, speak via skype, teamview their issues or study and fix their setups. Generally we prefer to help people fix their issues by themselves so they won’t repeatedly need us for similar issues and by this way we can share our solutions. If you think about it a second an army of people is needed if we start to review individual backups. However we also have Ad category for people who really don’t have time and want to hire someone to fix their issues privately. I can’t respond these requests as development takes my whole time but I know these requests are also answered.
I strongly suggest not to care wording on internet communication a lot these days as we generally use mobile phones to talk and writing additional words to adjust the tone is generally not preferred.
