I have some customers asking for a POS solution for their business, they are butchers and breeders in Mexico. They are asking me if the POS system is able to handle shrinkage/waste of the meat since they receive until they sale it. Also they would like to use electronic scales in order to enter the weight into the system.
Is this possible in sambapos? how can we do it? I’m talking that if I can do it work for one of them, we can replicate this solution for about 30 or 40 different companies in the same area.
They do retail sales and also they do wholesales too. They are interested in a solution that can be integrated in the truck (using a computer/scale/printer - i.e. using a mini PC like this one http://www.aleutia.com/products/r50-fanless-server/ and a touch screen or using an in dash carPC).
I’m not familiar with butcher business but as I could understand from your description meat shrinkage/waste relates with consumption speed. If it is possible to weigh remaining meat on hand at the end of the day SambaPOS can distribute cost to all sales.
Here is a video of integration with CAS ER jr model scale.
(subtitles available)
Also it supports weight barcodes. It might be a better alternative.
However please keep in mind SambaPOS is a restaurant POS. We want to focus on a single industry for now.
thanks for your answer. It can be like the sample in the video, the only difference is that the piece to weight is a complete animal. No problem with barcodes, we can print a ticket barcode from the scale and then enter it in sambapos with a barcode reader.
What they do is that the Shrikage/Wastemeat is subtracted at the beginning as a % of the total weight, they already know how much will be the that (usually 20% of total weight), the rest of the process is like a sale in a restaurant or a grocery store, like in the video, no difference.
When they get the meat, at the beginning of the day, before they sale it, they know that the meat yield an 80%, so they add that 20% to the rest at that time, not at the end of the day. You cannot weight the shrinkage from the liquid that the meat has in it at the end of the day.
You can create recipes to configure how much a unit of sale should decrease from inventory. For example 1 KG x meat sale can decrease 1.2 KG x meat from inventory. Are you looking for something like that?
