Hi,
I currently have the Server setup on v4 running Win 8.1 and have set the Client with the same (v4 & Win 8.1) and it’s running very well. Got it working today
Using: SQL EXPRESS 2014
Just wondering if it possible to have the Server as v3 and the Client as v4? Or the other way around? Would there be any compatibility issues?
I will be trying later this week or next week, but just wondering if anyone has done it or if it possible before I try.
PS: I have an old POS system that runs on POS Ready 2009 and therefore it can’t handle SambaPOS v4 and need to run v3 on it.
In short, it won’t work.
You can’t have different versions running from the same database.
Even within versions the database is marked with the newest version of the samba installs connected to it as different versions sometimes have new features with require database adjustments - ie 5.1.52 and 5.1.50 will not run on same database.
FYI both computers/terminals are clients of the same database, the term of server usually refers to the machine hosting the database rather than the install of samba on that machine.
Suggest checking the specs of the terminal and see if it would be upgrade able to a .net 4.5 compatable Windows.
