Steps to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x latest release?

What are the exact steps to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x latest release. I could not find anywhere in the forums. My implementation is multiple terminals and SQL Server database. Would love to implement kitchen display terminal and the remote tablet clients.

This is what emre has on the download update page that is pinned to top of the forum

Please install latest version of SambaPOS V3 if you are planning to migrate from V3.
Default Admin PIN is 1234.
Start a work period form Work Periods section to enable POS button.

Once you have upgraded to latest Version of v3 make sure u log in at least once as admin then you should be able to download and update to v4

Remember to back up before you do anything!!!

Thanks for your response RickH. I read Emre’s note but I was not quite sure what “upgrade” meant. Is it just regular installation of ver 4.x or there is a separate installer for the upgrade?

Thanks folks, so this is what I ended up doing, to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x

  1. Downloaded and installed SambaSetup3035_Beta.exe
  2. Logged in as admin user and started a work period
  3. Downloaded and installed SambaSetup4172.exe

And that’s it, I did not need to even update the connection string.
