I have the latest version of v5 on five tablets (Windows), they all connect to a single server. The network is the same on all of them and they all have the firewall turned off and have an identical setup. On three of them the message server connects and displays a green connected, on two of them however it stays “Connected” but in RED which means not connected.
I have tried everything. Rebooted the entire network, all devices, retyped settings, reinstalled SAMBAPOS, etc. They will simply not connected. They all have unique terminal names.
The message server string is setup as http://MESSAGESERVER and port set to 9000 as it should be.
My first sugestion would be changing the hostname of the message server to the IP address but never had any message server issues so maybe not best person to advise.
Firewall off on SERVER and same physical network on a lan is often a hard diagnosis.
Double check network setup.
If samba via SQL connection works but message server doesn’t on only some machines…
In theory working on some machines says server side is ok, and isolates to down wind of server.
That leaves client machines for which firewall etc shouldn’t be an issue normally…
Leading to maybe a physical or soft networking issue between server and those clients…
Physical would/should not be traffic relevant meaning samba SQL and message server difference would suggest soft based issue.
Just my taking from the information provided… More info will obviously help.
