V5 work offline?

we have just tested v5 for our yearly benefit restaurant tomorrow. Half way our test we had to stop, because we lost our licence key. There is no internet available, so it was a lot of trouble getting connected again.
Was it an unfortunate error, or is v5 not designed to work offline?
Tomorrow we go live,… so please give some tips to avoid this tomorrow :sweat_smile:

V5 license should not deactivate due to no internet connectivity but I’ve added some code to ensure it does not drop for V5.1.50 release. Are you using V5.1.50?

PS: It may deactivate due to restoring a backup if it was the case…

i am using v5.1.50, and we didn’t take a back-up. We couldn’t figure out what happened,… suddenly the message came that we where in trial mode. So what can happen if we ignore that? After x orders, it stops working?

No it won’t stop working but will display a disturbing popup while adding orders.

It shouldn’t suddenly switch to trial mode. We don’t require such validation.

Do you mean the red trial badge appeared on title or a message box showed saying “no valid license found”?

Do you occasionally connect to internet or does it have no internet connection at all?

we don’t have an internet connect there, but someone connected via GSM

Did you activate it when you bought license?

I wondered something. Did it just suddenly appeared in the middle of operation or did it appeared after you restarted sambapos?

If it helps Emre I have had that happen to me once when I had to force it shutdown when I messed up a script. I forced it shut and deleted the script in MSSMS when I started it again it had lost license. But mine had the popup

I didn’t think much of it because I just cleared keys.

Popup message does not relates with license activation. It happens if SambaPOS can’t load license module. @QMcKay also saw that once but that will probably won’t happen by 5.1.50. Please let me know if you see that popup that again :slight_smile:

Yes it is perfectly normal as backup may not contain valid licenses.

We didn’t have a problem working offline yesterday, so iT was a one time issue :smile:
We only had some problems staying connected… The Message server didn’t refresh the screens all the time, but the system worked fine.
