Minimum requirements inaccurate on the website

SambaPOS says it will run on XP, and uses .Net 4.0. But on install, it actually insists on installing .Net 4.5 and that is not compatible with Windows XP. Unable to install on XP SP3. For both V4 and V5

Windows xp compatibility

Windows XP has no support for .NET Framework 4.5. SambaPOS 4 (and 5) requires .NET 4.5 The root of the issue is a compatibility problem between XP and .Net 4.5 The simple answer to your question is No. You cannot install SambaPOS 4 (or 5) on Windows XP. You must use Windows 7 or greater. XP is not compatible with many applications. There is no good reason to run XP in this day and age.

I agree… I was just pointing it out. The literature says that it runs on XP and .NET 4.0. Just figured maybe I would mention it as they may want to update the information

I just Googled “SambaPOS requirements” and that was the top result. It’s no big deal, just thought I was being helpful by pointing it out. I had an old XP system from years back and thought I might be able to re-purpose it.

That link is to the documentation for V3. That’s why it says that. (you can tell, anything that is sambapos .org is going to be for V3).

Although I admit it does not mention this anywhere on the page. Possibly something that can be highlighted better in the header of that site…

I am sure that was made well before v4 so it probably just needs some updating to be more clear its for v3.
