An order has two states, Status=New, Hold=Hold
Status=New format is green
Hold=Hold format is blue
Unhold leaves Hold=Hold but changes Status=New
So has two defined formats.
That make more sense?
Was wanting to give priority to Hold state for format.
Anyway, sorted now.

What is the Group Name for Hold? What is Unhold?
Im still not following you. Perhaps show the rules your using might make more sense.

State==> State Name: Hold --> Name: Hold
State==> State Name: Statusâ> Name: New
The point was the ability to define the order/priority of state definitions for the formats.
I have solved another way but question is still valid

What is changing⊠what color⊠An entity? Entire Order line? Are you talking about Entities?
Or are you talking about Update Order Group action?

Your tutorial
Unhold puts back to new (presumably to work with default kitchen printer rule)

My tutorial was simple setup not taking into account formatting or showing those states. If you want to incorporate formatting you should think that flow through. Do not use New as a format instead use something else. This is what you did but you could also simplify it. You could replace New with Hold but might need to think through entire flow.

Ok makes sense now. You did right thing. You could probably simplify it but your right what you did will work just fine.
You were over thinking the format options. They are really VERY basic you can only show 1 color at a time which means only one of the states should have a format.

The problem was defining formats on states from separate groups.

While I have your attention, any chance you could help me with this;
Sure I saw it mentioned before but am struggling to find the post.
Am setting up order grouping by course.
On order added Order Group is set based on {ITEM TAG:Kitchen Course}.
Have set an automation command to update a order to different course using command values.
But the Group doesnât get visually updated until something else happens like another item added.
Tried âRefresh Ticketâ with TicketID = 0 but doesnât help, even on an automation command button âtestâ
Also, know we can order thâŠ

On the subject of State Formatting and my aim to reduce/simplify the ticket screen I was hoping as well as defining colours ie red with strike-through for void it would be nice to replace the price with VOID (as the void/gift state visibility on ticket screen has been turned off) however you cannot not have {0}.
Let me show you;
Test addition next to {0}
Removing {0} and just VOID
Think this would be awesome if pricee could be masked like I was hoping - since price of void item is erelevent on display.
This is what I was looking to achive;

Although works well for gift, leaving price on with strike-through (just price) works well and looks good
âŠwas that a like @Jesse
but would be good to be able to just have VOID and hide the price completely for voids
